New Mexico Junior College encourages all students to meet with an Academic Success Coach before registering for classes. The Office of Student Success provides comprehensive academic advising to help new students get started on the right path.

Continuing students are paired with a dedicated Academic Success Coach based on their last name or declared major/program of study. These coaches work one-on-one with students to develop an academic plan aligned with their unique goals and needs.

During advising sessions, the Academic Success Coach will work with the student to go over their degree or certificate plan. Following this degree plan helps ensure students stay on track and make steady progress toward graduation. Students are strongly advised to meet regularly with their  academic success coach to review their plan, monitor their academic standing, and make any necessary adjustments.
